SmartMusic Practicing Software: make practicing fun!
Students never practice alone when they have SmartMusic at home. This interactive, computer-based practice system helps students get better faster, and makes practicing more fun. With amazing accompaniments for more than 30,000 selections, challenging exercises, and the ability to record personal CDs, SmartMusic is the future of music learning. With SmartMusic installed on a computer, students plug in a microphone and begin practicing. They play their part with accompaniment and receive, in real time on the computer, detailed feedback on their performance. It is ideal for woodwind, brass,
string, and vocal musicians of all levels. SmartMusic turns the normal routine of “Ah, Mom, do I have to practice?” into “Mom, can I go practice now?”. It’s practicing gone video game. SmartMusic is your instant backup band that makes practicing fun and rewarding!
How Does It Work?
Upon installing SmartMusic onto your computer, musicians may immediately begin to practice. Over the internet, students and teacher interact by providing specific practice assignments to be accomplished each week. Musicians practice a musical selection with the added support of a back up band as accompaniment which gives the musician support through steady beat, harmony and an intonation reference. When feeling prepared, students record themselves playing a tune or song. SmartMusic instantly assesses student performance directly on the computer’s screen much like scoring on a video game. The results of the musician’s performance are electronically sent to the band director for analysis and grading purposes. Students may record their performances with band accompaniment and burn them onto a CD - what a great gift for grandparents living far away.
KMS Practice Sheet Grading
The use of SmartMusic is optional for KMS band students. Students may opt to utilize SmartMusic in their weekly practice routine to receive credit for home practicing. Otherwise, KMS musicians may fulfill their practice requirements normally by practicing for 100 minutes at home each week. SmartMusic is not a required purchase for KMS students. Students practicing with SmartMusic will be required to complete four (4) music assignments given by the teacher each week at least 90% accuracy for full credit each week. Students wishing to practice more may select any of the 30,000 musical selections on SmartMusic for extra credit, again with 90% accuracy.
